SEC Baseball Standings Week Five

Auburn finds itself in a three-way tie for seventh place at the halfway point of the SEC schedule.

Auburn, Ala.--The Auburn Tigers had an up and down week as they went 3-2 to improve to 23-12 overall. The positives were wins over Georgia State and Bethune-Cookman during the week and then a huge come-from-behind victory over Florida in the first game of the weekend series against the Gators. The downside was losses in the final two games of the series to drop to 7-8 in SEC play.

Offensive Player of the Week: Justin Hargett is the easy choice for this honor after he went 9-18 on the week with two RBI and a huge walk-off home run to beat Florida on Saturday. After a slow start to his year, Hargett is up to .358 on the season to lead the Tigers.

Pitcher of the Week: Reliever Bradley Hendrix had two huge outings for the Tigers on the weekend. Saturday he pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win over Florida. Coming back on Sunday, the sophomore allowed just one run on one hit in four innings to keep the Tigers in the game against the Gators.

Around the league the surprise had to be in Fayetteville as the Arkansas Razorbacks came into a weekend series against Vanderbilt riding high, but the Commodores pounded Arkansas 9-0 on Friday and 13-6 on Saturday to take the series. A rainout on Sunday now has thrown the SEC standings for a loop as that could wind up deciding not only a division championship, but which teams wind up making it to Hoover for the SEC Tournament.
