Lebo Signee On Campus For Early Session

One of Coach Jeff Lebo's signees arrived on the Auburn campus on Thursday to enroll in an early summer school session.

Auburn, Ala.--Men's basketball signee Ken Gabriel has arrived on the Auburn campus and will begin classes on Friday.

The six-foot-eight inch forward will have three seasons of eligibility with Jeff Lebo's Tigers after playing the previous season at Paris, Tex., Junior College. He is expected to immediately push for playing time.

Gabriel averaged 13.2 points and seven rebounds per game as a freshman at Paris this past season.

Kenny Gabriel

Gabriel averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds as a high school senior. He led his team to a 30-3 record and a runnerup finish for the Class 1A state title in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association.

Auburn first signed Gabriel in November 2007 when he was a senior at United Faith Christian Academy in Charlotte, N.C., where he earned All-State honors. However, he did not qualify academically in time to enroll for the fall semester at Auburn so instead attended junior college. He signed again with Auburn last November.

Lebo's other signees for the 2009 class are expected to enroll at Auburn this summer. That group includes 6-10 post player Robert Chubb from Peachtree City, Ga., and Montverde Academy in Florida, 6-5 guard/forward Earnest Ross from Panther Creek High in Cary, N.C., 6-5 guard Andre Malone from South Atlanta High in Georgia along with 6-8 forward Ty Armstrong from Gainesville, Fla., who played as a senior at Florida Air Academy in Orlando.
