Linebacker Enjoys Visit To Auburn

Smiths, Ala.--Linebacker Mitchell Thomas says his second official visit, a weekend trip to nearby Auburn, was a good one and the Tigers are definitely in the hunt to get his signature on national signing day.

"It was a very interesting visit," said Thomas, a 6-3, 211-pound linebacker from Smiths Station High.

One of the top players on the team, junior linebacker Karlos Dansby, served as his player host. Thomas said that Auburn is recruiting him to play the sam linebacker position, the same spot that Dansby played so impressive for the Tigers this past season.

Thomas says that he met with academic advisers, coaches and players during his visit to Auburn. He attended a function at Jordan-Hare Stadium where he and the other recruits had dinner with the coaching staff and their player hosts.

Thomas is considered one of the top prospects in Alabama this season.

Thomas says that he wants to take more visits before selecting a college. He plans to visit the University of Alabama next weekend. He also has trips scheduled to Vanderbilt on the 17th and South Carolina on the 24th. Prior to Christmas, he took his first official visit to Notre Dame.

As a senior, his Smiths Station High team struggled, but the three-year starter had a solid year with 79 tackles and 400-plus rushing yards as a tailback.
