Quarterback Almost Pulls Trigger

This Sunshine State quarterback talks about his visit and meeting new quarterback Coach Steve Ensminger.

Tampa, Fla.--Quarterback Stephen Reaves from Plant High took an official visit to Auburn this weekend and says he almost committed to be a Tiger but decided to take a few more visits before making his final decision. Hosted by true freshman quarterback Josh Sullivan, Reaves says everything went perfect on his trip to the Plains.

"It went really well," Reaves tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I liked it. It was probably my best visit. I liked everything about it. I love the coaching staff. I got to meet a lot of the players and I really like them. I really got a good feel for it. I felt like that would be a good place for me. I didn't end up committing when I talked to Coach Tuberville but I'm pretty close to committing myself but I think I might take a couple more visits. Some teams popped up that I'm kind of interested in but other than that I would say Auburn is probably the best school I have visited. I really enjoyed everything about it."

The son of former Florida and NFL quarterback John Reaves, Stephen is well versed on the role of the quarterback and knows exactly what he's looking for in an offense and coaching staff. After building a strong relationship with former Auburn Coach Bobby Petrino, Reaves says he was impressed when he met new quarterbacks Coach Steve Ensminger this weekend.

"I met with Coach Ensminger on Saturday afternoon and he was kind of telling me the whole deal and how the offense was going to be run and everything like that," Reaves says. "I got to meet him and sit down and talk with him about other things as well. I really liked him. He really knows his stuff and really knows about quarterbacks. I'm looking forward to, if I commit there, being under him. I think he's going to do a really good job there."

Often on visits players bond with other visitors or their hosts and that friendship lasts throughout their college career. Even though Reaves didn't commit while in town, he says that the time he and the rest of the recruits had this weekend could lead to bigger things down the road for Auburn.

"I liked him," Reaves says of Sullivan. "He was a really cool guy. We got along really well. I ended up meeting all of the quarterbacks actually. We went out with them a couple of nights and it was really fun. I really enjoyed myself. I met most everyone visiting this weekend. I met a bunch of guys and really liked them. We were all talking about committing and everything like that because I think we all enjoyed it."
