Athlete Rates Auburn Visit High

This speedy high school quarterback talks about his visit to Auburn and his decision making process.

Miami, Fla.--One of the top athletes in Florida visited Auburn this weekend and says his visit passed the test with flying colors. Having already visited both Virginia Tech and Nebraska, Courtney Denson from Central High says that his trip to Auburn was the best of the three and the Tigers are in the hunt for his signature on signing day along with a new team.

"I liked Auburn probably better than the other two," Denson tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I'm going to wait until signing day before I make my decision. The visit went real good. I liked it a lot. I liked all the facilities and things like that. I liked the people, everybody was real nice."

Hosted by former Central teammate Mike Sherill, Denson says that he got a chance to meet a lot of the current Auburn players and many of the other official visitors to Auburn over the weekend.

"It was good to hang out with him again," Denson says of Sherill. "We spent some time with Ronnie Brown and number 4 (Junior Rosegreen). We also spent some time with a guy that played at Plantation last year (Cavari Dailey). I was with a lot of the recruits as well. We had a good time. Everybody was just real nice."

The speedy Denson is expected to get a shot to play quarterback on the collegiate level but is an athlete that could play any number of positions, including cornerback or wide receiver. In his first season as a starter at quarterback in 2001, Denson passed for 1,600 yards and 23 touchdowns and also added four rushing touchdowns for good measure. After a strong senior season when he threw for 1,900 yards and 20 touchdowns and rushed for 612 yards and 11 more scores, Denson had narrowed his choices down to Auburn, Virginia Tech and Nebraska before making his visit to Auburn. He said Sunday that he expects to take a visit to Rutgers this coming weekend for an official visit.
