Big Cat Weekend Visitor Returns to Auburn

Springville High School rising senior offensive lineman Chase Hughes discusses his visit to Auburn.

Springville, Ala.--A visitor to Auburn's Big Cat Weekend for recruits was back on campus to spend more time with the Auburn coaches.

"I came down to Auburn on Saturday night and watched the camp," Hughes says. "Everybody looked real good."

The Tigers had a two-day football camp that ended on Sunday.

The offensive lineman, who is being recruited by Auburn as a center, is a teammate of wide receiver Jeremy Richardson, who committed to Auburn this month.

Hughes says he is interested in Auburn, too. "Recruiting is going great," he says. "I picked up an offer from Tulane a day or two so I am up to eight now.

"This summer I am just working out, camping it up and getting ready for my senior season," he says. "I am mostly working on getting my speed up.

"We should have a pretty good team this year," he says. "We lost our quarterback, but the guy who stepped up, No. 10 Josh Gibson, looked really good in the spring game. He is just a major athlete should we should be pretty stout."

Hughes notes that Richardson is encouraging the big lineman to follow him to Auburn. "He has put his word in for me to do that," the lineman says.
