Young DE Impressive at AU Football Camp

Xzavier Dixon tells Inside the Auburn Tigers about his camp experience at Auburn and video of his workout at a Combine is featured.

Griffin, Ga.--Although Auburn's two-day football senior individual camp mostly was for rising senior prospects, a junior who attended is expected to be one of the top players in Georgia for the Class of 2001.

Defensive end Xzavier Dickson from Griffin High School is already 6-4, 237 pounds and there is no telling how big he will be by the time he arrives on a college campus. "I think I am going to grow to be about six-foot-seven," he tells Inside the Auburn Tigers.

The rising junior says the two-day camp at Auburn was a good experience and he enjoyed meeting and working with the Auburn coaches. "It was intense and I learned some new moves--the up and under and stuff like that," he says.

Dickson, who attended a football camp at Alabama, says the Crimson Tide is the first college to offer him a scholarship. Next week he is headed to a camp at Georgia, a school he would like to get an offer from, too. "Georgia is my favorite," he says.

The defensive end notes that he is interested in Auburn, too, and he stayed after the camp wrapped up on Sunday to spend time with the AU coaching staff.

Dickson, who also plays power forward in basketball, made 74 tackles and 13 sacks for Griffin as a sophomore, his first year as a varsity starter. "I won the newcomer of the year award," says the defensive end, who notes that he is on the honor roll at Griffin High.

In April the rising junior was selected to the Underclassmen Elite 11 listing at the Combine in Atlanta.
