Davis, who averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds per game as a junior, had a choice of which sport to play in college. She notes that she was recruited by around 90 colleges in basketball and around 40 in volleyball.
"I decided to play basketball and do it at Auburn because I am a big Auburn fan and have been very impressed with the women's basketball program at Auburn," she says. "The fan support has been great and the commitment to success for the future is shown by the new arena that is under construction."
An honor student who carries a 4.1 grade point average, she plans to study pre-med at Auburn. She narrowed her choices to Kansas State, Florida, Purdue and Auburn before choosing the Tigers after making unofficial visits to each of those colleges.
Although she plays center in high school, Davis is expected to be a power forward in college. She has a good mid-range jumper and runs the court well so she should be a good fit for the up-tempo style of play the 2008-2009 SEC champions use.
Auburn's other early commitment, Strain, goes into her senior season as the leading scorer in Alabama High School Athletic Association girls hoops history.
