Georgia corner picks Auburn

It was a little unexpected, but one of the top corners out of the Peach State committed to Auburn on Monday night. He has been leaning that way and he decided to make the call to become a Tiger.

Jonathon Mincy called Auburn Head Coach Gene Chizik Monday evening and committed to the new head coach.

Mincy has been leaning towards Auburn for some time and he has had his mind made up for a couple of weeks.

The 5-foot-10, 164 pound corner out of Decatur, Ga. - Southwest Dekalb visited Auburn earlier this month and the Tigers have been number one on his list since.

This commitment is a little surpring not because of the school he chose, but because of the timing. Southwest Dekalb Head Coach Buck Godfrey typically does not allow his student-athletes to make early decisions, but he has decided to pull back on that this summer. He gave his players permission and Mincy jumped at the opportunity.

The Tigers are getting a cover corner with good ball skills, solid technique, and nice instincts.

Mincy chose Auburn over 20 other offers including those from LSU, Miami, North Carolina and Tennessee.

This is commitment no. eight for the Tigers.
