"We're excited to have someone with Scott's broad range of experience join our department," Auburn director of athletics Jay Jacobs said. "He has a tremendous amount of expertise that will help us continue to improve as a department, and we are pleased to have him join the Auburn Family."
The Tigers recently lost two associate athletic directors. Nikki Borges left to join her husband, former Auburn coach Al Borges, who is offensive coordinator for the San Diego State University football team. Carr will take over many of her duties at AU. Also, Mark Richard left AU to become athletic director at Gannon University.
Carr, a 1995 University of Florida graduate in business management, received a masters in sport management from Florida in 1997. While at Southern Miss he administered the baseball program, marketing and promotions department, ticket operations, media relations, broadcasting, community relations and the athletic department's licensing program and fundraising.
During his eight years at Southern Miss, the athletic department spent $55 million in facility upgrades.
"I am excited about joining the Auburn Family," Carr said. "It is an honor to work for Jay Jacobs with one of the nation's best athletics programs. The tradition and support of Auburn Athletics are tremendous and I am eager to contribute to the long history of success. My family and I look forward to living in a wonderful city."
Prior to working at Southern Miss, he worked with the FedEX Orange Bowl from 1997-2001 and from 1995-97 was a graduate assistant equipment manager at the University of Florida.
