Taylor Enjoys AU Camp, MSU Next

Wetumpka linebacker Jamichael Taylor talks about his camp experience at Auburn and about recruiting.

Wetumpka, Ala.--2009 is the year of the linebacker once again in Alabama with a handful of players at the position already committed including both Jake Holland and Jawara White to Auburn.

With talented players such as LaDarius Owens, C.J. Mosley and Nigel Terrell also in the mix, the group is a solid one indeed.

A player hoping to play his way into that elite group of linebackers is big Jamichael Taylor. Physically able to hold his own, Taylor performed well Saturday at the Auburn Senior Camp. Checking in at 5-11, 235, Taylor ran a time of 4.61 seconds in the 40-yard dash and also had a vertical leap of 32 inches.

Those are the kinds of numbers that Taylor says he hoped to put up when he decided to come back to Auburn for the second time this summer.

"It was a senior day so I had to go out there and give it all I had," Taylor says. "I ran a 4.61, which is okay, but I want to get better. I executed in the drills. I brought my A game basically."

With Holland, White, Owens, Mosley and Auburn commitment Jessel Curry all working out on Saturday, Taylor says it gave him the opportunity to test himself against some of the best players at his position in the Southeast.

"It was great seeing what all was out there," Taylor says. "Watching the guys who have already committed, I watched what they did in practice so they could teach me a little something."

Being recruited by several colleges and holding some solid offers, Taylor says he's still waiting for an offer from the Auburn Tigers at the moment.

"I have been to a lot of camps," Taylor says. "I'm getting recruited pretty heavy right now but hopefully Auburn will offer. If they do I'll take my decision carefully.

"Right now I have offers from Mississippi State, Clemson, Georgia Southern and Southern Miss. I'm just in a holding pattern right now until things begin to clear up some."

Taylor has one more camp planned as he's heading to Starkville to check out Dan Mullen's Bulldogs before getting ready for his senior year with the Bulldogs.
