Defensive End To Visit Southern Miss, USC

This defensive end commitment to the Tigers may visit Auburn this weekend and has scheduled two more visits for the coming weeks.

Birmingham, Ala.--One of Auburn's earliest public verbal commitments is scheduled to take an official visit to the Plains this weekend. Defensive end Lloyd Blevins from Wenonah High says that basketball has been much of his focus since the end of football season but he does have a couple of trips to take just to see what's out there before signing day.

"I'm coming in this weekend," Blevins tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I'll be getting there Saturday because of a basketball game on Friday. I'm still hearing from a few schools. South Carolina, UAB and Southern Miss are all talking to me. I'm going to Southern Miss on the 24th and South Carolina on the 31st. I really want to go to Auburn but if I'm not impressed when I got to Auburn I still want to take my other visits just in case."

A standout basketball player for the Dragons, Blevins is averaging 12 points and 15 rebounds per game this season despite a disappointing 6-12 record. Down to just 215 pounds because of the rigors of playing basketball, he says he hopes to report to school in the 235 range next fall.

A superb pass rusher with the speed to track opponents down from sideline to sideline, Blevins had over 200 tackles and 20 sacks in his career as a three-year starter.

Tiger Ticket Extra:

While it looked like Blevins would visit this weekend that's not a certainty as of Thursday afternoon. He was originally scheduled to visit last weekend but the trip was pushed back because his required paperwork for an ACT test wasn't available at the time. Prospects must have proof of taking either the ACT or SAT before they can take an official visit.
