Ohio State Joins Mix For Football Recruit

A football prospect considering the Auburn Tigers is also planning to check out the national champion Buckeyes.

Miami, Fla.--Add defending national champion Ohio State into the recruiting mix for two-sport standout Kenny Williams.

Williams, a 6-7, 225-pounder from American High School, is scheduled to take an official visit to Auburn this weekend. "I like Auburn football and I am interested in checking out the university," he tells Inside the Auburn Tigers. The tall tight end says he is interested in majoring in business administration as a collegian.

Williams, who is also a standout basketball player, says that he plans to check out Ohio State. "I just scheduled a visit with them for the 31st," he says. "I was going to Central Florida that weekend."

A second team All-Dade selection as a senior for an 8-3 team, Williams is a three-year starter in football and basketball. He is currently busy with basketball and is averaging 15.1 points per game. Williams says he caught around 20 passes as a senior for 600 yards for a team that was ground-oriented. He is interested in trying to play both sports in college.

Williams visited the University of Missouri last weekend. Prior to going to Ohio State, Williams has a visited set for Ole Miss. Auburn and Ohio State are in a recruiting battle for another south Florida standout, defensive end Stanley McClover from Dillard High of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. McClover has visited both the Tigers and Buckeyes.
