Lebo's Tigers Pick Up Verbal Commitment

A forward from Georgia says he will sign with the Auburn basketball Tigers.

Powder Springs, Ga.--The Auburn men's basketball team picked up its first verbal commitment for the 2010 signee class from 6-7 forward Heath Houston from Hillview High School.

"I made my decision today and I have committed to Auburn," he tells Inside the Auburn Tigers.

"I felt good about the coaching staff, the players and the people at Auburn," he says. "I like the university, the town and the Auburn fans, who really support their university."

An honor student who wants to major in aerospace engineering, Auburn's reputation in that field of study helped Coach Jeff Lebo's cause.

Houston says he expects to be starting for a fourth consecutive year at Hillview High. He will be in the first class to go through the new school for four seasons.

The forward, who is a face-up four (power forward) with range to 20 feet on his jump shot, has long arms and is a good leaper.

He plays AAU basketball for the Atlanta Express and says he chose the Tigers over offers from Cincinnati, Tulane and Winthrop.

"I am excited about the opportunity to play at Auburn," he adds. "I wanted to go to a league with tough competition and the SEC is that type of league."
