AU's Smith Charged With Disorderly Conduct

A report on an Auburn football player is featured.

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn football player Eric Smith was arrested by city of Auburn police on Friday at 1:42 a.m. on a charge of disorderly conduct at the Lexington Inn on South College Street.

A sophomore running back from Armwood High in Seffner, Fla., Smith played in all 12 games last season and started one time. He finished the season with 83 yards on 21 carries.

Smith, who is working at both tailback and fullback, practiced with his teammates on Thursday night. The Tigers are scheduled to be back on the practice field on Friday afternoon.

Coach Gene Chizik has not yet commented on the situation. He is expected to be available to the media following Friday's practice.
