Lebo Announces Basketball Schedule

The Auburn men's basketball team will open the 2009-2010 season vs. Niagara.

Auburn, Ala.--Coach Jeff Lebo announced Auburn's 2009-2010 basketball schedule on Monday that includes seven games against teams that played in the 2009 NCAA Tournament.

In Auburn's final season to play at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, the Tigers will open the season with a home game on Nov. 13th vs. Niagara. A week earlier the Tigers will play a home exhibition game vs. Miles College.

"We have a very demanding schedule this year with three ACC teams on it and a couple of good road games," Lebo says. "We have a return game at Missouri State, and we will play in Huntsville.

"A couple of years ago, we wanted to play in different parts of the state so we have been to Birmingham, Montgomery and Mobile and now we are going to be up in Huntsville," adds Lebo, who is coming off his most successful season with the Tigers. "That will be great for our Auburn fans in that area and in northern Alabama.

"We play at Florida State, which went to the NCAA Tournament, North Carolina State and Virginia in Auburn. We have a good mixture of some high level teams."

Lucas Hargrove will be a senior for the Tigers this season.

The Tigers will play NCAA Tournament teams Tennessee, FSU and Alabama State plus LSU (twice) and Mississippi State (twice). The Tigers, who played in the NIT last year, face four NIT teams with games vs. Kentucky, Florida, South Carolina and Niagara.

Lebo's team returns three starters (guard Dewayne Reed, guard Tay Waller and forward Lucas Hargrove) from a squad that finished 24-12 last season.
