Prospect Chows Down On Recruiting Trip

This out-of-state football prospect enjoyed the food and more on his official visit to Auburn.

Nashville, Tenn.--Andre Davis, a three-year starter at quarterback for Pearl-Cohn High School, said his visit to Auburn this weekend was "pretty smooth."

The six-foot tall QB joked that he arrived at Auburn weighing 185 pounds, but said he probably weighs a lot more than that now after enjoying the hospitality of his first official recruiting visit.

"Roshard Gilyard was my host and he took me out to eat," Davis said. "I ate a bunch of food. I am going to have to lose some weight. On Friday night we went to Outback Steakhouse and later that night we went to Waffle House. The next morning we woke up and ate breakfast and then came over to campus and we ate again."

Davis said that he runs a 4.5 40-yard dash and that he feels equally comfortable as a passer and runner. Although he played offense in high school and quarterback is his favorite position, he noted that Auburn is recruiting him as a defensive back. He passed for 820 yards as a senior and produced 810 rushing yards. "We ran the regular I-formation," he said.

Davis said that he received a qualifying test score for freshman eligibility and he is very interested in the Tigers. "I had a great time at Auburn," he said. "I like the players and the Tigerettes. It is a good environment."
