Defensive End To Announce Thursday

This defender will choose between four SEC schools this week.

Greenville, Miss.--One of the top defensive end prospects says that he plans to announce his college choice this coming Thursday following an in-home visit Wednesday night from Georgia Coach Mark Richt. A visitor over the weekend to Athens to see the program up close and personal, Quentin Groves says that he will choose between the Bulldogs, Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

"Georgia was always on my list," Groves tells Inside The Auburn Tigers of his recruitment. "There were two schools I had looked at in particular and that was Auburn and Georgia. When I went on the visit I found out that Georgia is a place I could play the next four years of my life. I plan to make my decision Thursday. I'm going to use this week to try to figure out who it's going to be."

One of the top big athletes in the South, the 6-4, 230 Groves has the potential to come in and play right away at the defensive end position. With 4.5 speed in the forth-yard dash, it's no wonder that some of the top schools around the country tried to recruit Groves. After taking visits to Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State, he says the Georgia visit went pretty good and it will be his final trip.

"It went real well," Groves says. "I just had a lot of fun with the players and I spent a lot of time with the coaches. I got to know the coaching staff a lot better. I already knew them but I got to know them better because we got to sit down and talk."

Teammate Devrick Hampton has also received interest from schools from coast-to-coast. A dominant defensive tackle, he's expected to choose from Mississippi State, Ole Miss, or Tennessee.
