SEC Honors Auburn Linebacker

The Southeastern Conference has named Craig Stevens its Defensive Player of the Week.

Birmingham, Ala.--Auburn junior Craig Stevens has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Auburn's 41-30 victory over West Virginia.

Stevens was credited with a career-high for tackles with eight solos and three assists. He also scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 15-yard interception return that sealed Auburn's third straight victory.

The Tigers struggled early in the game on defense, falling behind 14-0 vs. the Mountaineers.

"In the first half, we were taking the wrong angles and we were missing every time," Stevens says. "Toward the end of the game, we got more disciplined. They had to turn to the passing game."

Auburn intercepted five of those passes and finished the game with six takeaways. The Tigers are currently second in the nation in turnover margin at plus 2.33 per contest.

For the season Stevens has 26 tackles with 18 solos and 3 1/2 tackles for lost yardage.
