Tigers Add 18th Football Commitment

Coach Gene Chizik's Tigers have added a second football verbal commitment this week.

Kansas City, Mo.--Steven Clark, a punter from Park Hill High School, has committed to play football for Coach Gene Chizik's Auburn Tigers.

A prospect who took an official visit to Auburn for the West Virginia game, Clark tells Inside the Auburn Tigers, "I am an Auburn Tiger."

A six-foot-six, 230-pound senior, who is starting for a third year on the football team, Clark says, "I really like Auburn. I had a great time on my trip there. Auburn has great people, great football, it is a great school with great academics."

Clark picked Auburn over offers from Wisconsin and Purdue. "Auburn is just everything I am looking for in a college," the high school senior says. "It couldn't be any better. I couldn't ask for anything else."

The new Auburn commitment says his season in Missouri is going well. "It couldn't be going much better," he says. "We are doing really well. We are 5-1 and ranked third in our state. We are going to be 6-1 after the next game."

Clark says he isn't sure what his punting average or other statistics are. "I have no idea," he says. "I am the starting defensive end, too, and me and our starting linebacker switch out as the starting tight end. I just get out there and kick and then go back to playing.

"I enjoy playing several positions in high school, but I am looking forward to focusing on one position in colllege," he adds.

An honor student, Clark says he will graduate in May and report to Auburn next summer.

Clark notes that he really enjoyed watching the Tigers play in person for their home game vs. West Virginia. "It was an awesome game, It was really incredible."

Clark is the second specialist to commitment to the Tigers. Auburn already has a commitment from a field goal kicker, Cody Parkey, a four-star rated prospect from Jupiter, Fla., High School.

Clark says that he met Parkey this past summer at the Jamie Cole Kicking Camp in Wisconsin where Clark was named the Most Valuable Punter. "I am sure that is where the Auburn coaches found out about me," he points out, adding that Auburn's special teams coach, Jay Boulware, is very familiar with the Cole camp.

The new Auburn commitment has a 3.9 grade point average and plans to major in kinesiology in college. He also plays on the Park Hill High School basketball team.
