Linebacker Terrance Jones has narrowed his list down to just three schools and has received visits from all three in the last few days says his Coach Robert Higginbotham.
"He's boiled it down to three," Higginbotham tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "He's got Alabama, Auburn and Louisville. Auburn was here this morning with Coach Tuberville and Phillip Lolley."
A leader on and off the field, the 6-1, 205-pound Jones has all the tools to be successful on the collegiate level. Higginbotham has coached his share of top linebackers and he says Jones belongs right up there with the best he's had.
"He's led our team in tackles since he came from our junior high," Higginbotham says. "He's led us since he was a sophomore. I coached Saleem Rasheed and I think he fits in that category. I think he's going to be an outstanding college player."
With signing day looming closer (Feb. 5th), Jones has a decision to make. While he's still struggling to choose between his three favorites, his coach says that he hopes the announcement will come sometime this week so the pressure will be off Jones' shoulders heading into next week.
"I think he wants to get all this off of him," Higginbotham says. "I think it's boiled down to being a hard decision for him. I've encouraged him to go ahead and make a decision. I wish he would because I think he would feel a lot better. I'm hoping he makes a decision in the next two or three days at the most."
Tiger Ticket Extra: Jones is one of a host of linebackers Auburn is recruiting to finish up the 2003 class. In addition to him you have Ernie Sims, Mitchell Thomas, Montavian Collier and H.B. Blades who are all considering the Tigers late in the game.
