Auburn greats and current players participated in the 2009 Home Run Derby at Plainsman Park.
While former Auburn
great Bo Jackson was the biggest name in attendance Friday night, fellow two-sport athlete Gabe Gross
stole the show as he hit 26 home runs in two rounds to defeat Atlanta Braves' catcher David Ross
and current Tigers Kevin Patterson
and Ryan Jenkins
in the final round.
While he didn't hit a home run, Jackson was very popular and signed autographs for the kids as did former Auburn stars Tim Hudson and Frank Sanders. Auburn legendary coach Hal Baird was on hand and took part in the competition while retired pitcher and Auburn fan Todd Jones threw in the championship round.
