In-State Quarterback Inks With Tigers

Despite late pressure to sign with Alabama, this signal caller kept his commitment to the Auburn Tigers.

Phenix City, Ala.--One of two quarterbacks the Auburn Tigers got commitments from signed on the dotted line Wednesday morning as Kelcy McKissic-Luke made his intentions official at Central High. A 6-1, 200-pound athlete that has the ability to beat you both throwing and running the ball, McKissic-Luke chose the Tigers over Alabama, Georgia Tech and several other schools.

Kelcy McKissic-Luke

A three-year starter for Coach Ron Nelson, the younger brother of current Alabama players Triandos Luke and Nick Luke led the Red Devils to a record of 29-7 in his career. A PrepStar All Region team member and a finalist for the 6A Offensive Back of the Year in Alabama, he threw for 1,636 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior with just three interceptions. He also added 376 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. In his career he totaled 3,456 yards and 31 passing touchdowns and added 899 yards rushing and 11 scores on the ground.

Despite numerous attempts by the Alabama coaching staff to sway McKissic-Luke to change his mind, the quarterback decided in the end that his commitment to Auburn was strong. A solid student with a 3.52 grade point average and a passing test score, McKissic-Luke is the true definition of a student-athlete. He was honored as the Bi-City Player of the Year as both a junior and a senior.
