Speedy Quarterback Signs With Tigers

This outstanding athlete is considered the top dual threat quarterback by some experts.

Miami, Fla.--One of the top quarterbacks in Florida made it official Wednesday at Central High when Courtney Denson signed a National Letter of Intent with the Auburn Tigers. A 6-0, 180-pound speedster, Denson was a two-year starter and in that time quickly became one of the top players in South Florida.

With 3,700 yards passing and 1,100 yards rushing to go along with 54 touchdowns in just two seasons, Denson earned several awards in the Miami area including the offensive player of the year for Dade County. He chose the Tigers over Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Rutgers and a number of other schools.

Denson put the wraps on his high school career with a solid performance in the annual Dade-Broward All-Star game in January. Despite playing just a little of the first quarter and the last 50 seconds of the game, he finished with 106 yards rushing on just six carries and also passed for 55 yards and one touchdown in a 26-16 loss.

A tremendous all-around athlete, Denson ran a 4.46 at a camp earlier this summer on the Auburn campus. Because of his size and speed, if he doesn't make it as a quarterback he could wind up playing defensive back or wide receiver as a Tiger somewhere down the road.
