Speedy Defender Signs With AU

This prospect sees promising days ahead for the Auburn football Tigers.

Alexander City, Ala.--Known for his quick burst off the line of scrimmage and ability to harass opposing quarterbacks, Marquies Gunn signed with Auburn on Wednesday following a very impressive senior season.

Gunn is currently six-foot-four and weighs 212 pounds, up seven from his senior season at Benjamin Russell High in which he produced 22 quarterback sacks. He was also a standout player on the 2001 BRHS team that won the Class 5A state championship.

Gunn picked Auburn over Arkansas, Louisville, Alabama, UAB and others. "I like the college and it is close to home," Gunn notes. "I also like the Auburn coaches and players so that is where I am headed."

The defensive end, who runs a 4.6 40, says he was impressed with the Auburn football team's togetherness on his official visit to AU.
