In-State Standout Signs With Tuberville's Tigers

Although he played on both sides of the ball in high school, this prospect is expected to be a defender at AU.

Alexander City, Ala.--A player who could help Auburn fill an immediate need officially signed scholarship papers to play for the Tigers on Wednesday.

Eric Brock, a 6-1, 185-pound cornerback with 4.5 speed, picked the Tigers over Arkansas and was recruited by other SEC schools such as South Carolina, Alabama and LSU.

Brock is also one of the better basketball players in the state this season and has a scholarship offer to AUM in that sport as a point guard.

A standout on both offense and defense, Louisville, coached by former Auburn University coordinator Bobby Petrino, recruited Brock as a wide receiver as well as a cornerback. He also took a recruiting visit to UAB.

Auburn also signed a player from Benjamin Russell High last season, linebacker Tyrone Martin. However, he had to give up football after suffering a neck injury this past fall. Brock's teammate, Marquis Gunn, is also signing with the Tigers.
