Tall Tight End Makes It Official

This Florida high school football standout is scheduled to be an Auburn Tiger later this year.

Hialeah, Fla.--Size, speed and athleticism make Ken Williams one of the more intriguing members of the 2003 Auburn football signee class.

Williams, a 6-7, 228-pounder from American High, notes that he liked the Tigers before visiting the Auburn campus, but a weekend at AU convinced him that Auburn is the place for him to attend college.

"I like the college," he says. "I like the school spirit. I like the academic program. Also, the opportunity for tight ends makes me want to come there even more."

The football/basketball standout for American High School picked the Tigers over Rutgers, Missouri, Ohio State, Central Florida and others after finishing his senior season with more than 600 receiving yards for a ground-oriented team. He is also one of the top high school basketball players in the Miami area and is averaging 15.1 points per game in that sport.

Williams says he runs a 4.6 40-yard dash and he considers himself a good blocker. In basketball, he calls his style of play "aggressive." He says his ability to make tough catches is his best asset in football.
