On Friday the 5-11, 185 cornerback from Lincoln High School told Inside the Auburn Tigers he will sign with Auburn in February. On Wednesday the Tigers added two high school seniors and two junior college sophomores as early signees to join the team in 2010 in what has been a busy week for Auburn recruiting.
A standout quarterback and defensive back at Lincoln High, he is projected to play cornerback at Auburn.
"I really like the coaches and the Auburn program," he said. "My visit to watch the practice was a really good one. I liked it a lot and so did my father who came with me."
White said he is also excited about playing at a program with Auburn's tradition and in the SEC where his father, defensive back Will White, was a standout perforer as a Florida Gator. He says he picked the Tigers from "15 or 16 offers."
A two-sport athlete, White runs the 100 and 200 meters in track and is also on the 4x100 relay at Lincoln. He says his best time as a junior in the 100 meters was 10.9 seconds.
White spent most of his time as a senior on the field at quarterback. "I played defense, too, in the state playoffs because we had some young guys in the secondary," he says. "I played cornerback situationally and would cover the other team's best receiver."
White led Lincoln to the third round of the state playoffs at quarterback. He would also play defense in key situations for his team.
The Trojans defeated Ed White High School of Jacksonville in the opening round 36-21 and defeated Columbia of Lake City 20-14 the following week. In round three Lincoln fell 35-21 to Niceville.
White noted that he is interested in studying in business marketing in college and says he is taking some honors classes.
