Part 3: Jake Holland's All-American Diary

Auburn commitment Jake Holland talks about the first day of practice for the upcoming Under Armour All-American Game.

Editor's Note: This is the third in a series of reports featuring Auburn football commitment Jake Holland's experiences preparing for and playing in the Under Armour All-American Football Game that is scheduled for Saturday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., at 10 a.m. CST. Holland made 153 tackles as a senior as he earned first team Class 6A All-State honors for Pelham, Ala., High School.

Orlando, Fla.--"It went real well for the first day of practice. I feel like I practiced pretty good today. I was real good in coverage today. I had two picks and three pass break ups. I had a real good day in coverage. I had a good day in the run game as well, but they're not going to run much. There are a lot of restrictions on the game because of the time to learn an offense and defense. You can only run a zone and a zone-read play. They can't do much. There is a lot of competition and I was kind of nervous, but I feel like after the long break after the season I was still playing pretty fast.

"It's definitely a new experience. We haven't really gone full contact or anything so I haven't gotten the full scene of it, but everybody out there is a great athlete. I play in a pretty hard league already, but this is definitely a step up from that. It's a lot of competition. Everybody is going full speed. It's just a fun time really because you get to see top players not only in high school, but they're going to be great players in college also.

"Not only the Auburn guys, but I've gotten to know some of the other guys over the years from recruiting and all that, going to different colleges. Everybody is just a good guy and likes to hang out and just have fun. They give us a lot to do. Even though there are two teams we all hang out together and have a good time. That's what we all came down here for.

"We were in full pads today and it will be full pads tomorrow. Today we got all the formations ready. It was kind of a slower day being the first day. Tomorrow I feel like we can jump out there and know what we're doing and get a lot more done."
