Part 5: Jake Holland's All-American Diary

Auburn commitment Jake Holland talks about playing in the Under Armour All-American Football Game.

Editor's Note: This is the fifth in a series of reports featuring Auburn football commitment Jake Holland's experiences preparing for and playing in the Under Armour All-American Football Game that was played on Saturday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. Holland made 153 tackles as a senior as he earned first team Class 6A All-State honors for Pelham, Ala., High School.

St. Petersburg, Fla.--"It was a different type of game, mostly a passing game, and there were a lot of restrictions on what the teams could do so it was a bit of an unusual game for a middle linebacker. The offense couldn't run the football a whole lot and when it did the plays were mostly going outside.

"I thought I?played pretty fast. I made a few mistakes, but all in all I?had a pretty good game.

"The whole week was a great experience. They took us to Disney World and we went bowling on New Year's Eve. Everybody had a fun time. Everybody became close and I think this is the best all-star game out there.

"The game was pretty close to what I expected even though it was different with all of the restrictions. Even though we didn't have much practice time before the game most of us are really good athletes and we know what we are doing so we were able to get ready to play a game without much practice. It was simplified so it wasn't a problem for us.

"I got to spend time with the other guys who are going to Auburn and we hung out. I got to know Eric Mack pretty good, too. We were lobbying him all week to come to Auburn.

"Playing in an all-star game experience like this should help me get ready for college football. It lets me know what the competition is going to be like."
