A 6-3, 295-pound defensive tackle, he announced at Warner Robins High School on Monday that he had chosen the Tigers over Georgia, Miami and North Carolina. He took official visits to each of those universities.
"When I called Coach Rock (defensive line coach Tracy Rocker) and Coach Chiz (Chizik) to tell them, they were really excited," Whitaker says. "I am excited about the Auburn program. I think we are really good to be good."
Rated a four-star prospect by Scout.com and the number 11 defensive tackle prospect in America, the U.S. Army All-American says the coaching staff, other Auburn commitments, the fans and the university itself influenced his decision.
Whitaker also played in the Georgia North-South All-Star Game.
