Big Jeffrey Whitaker Signs With the Tigers

All-American defensive lineman Jeffrey Whitaker has signed with the Auburn football Tigers.

Warner Robins, Ga.--Expected to be one of the key recruits for the 2010 Auburn signee class, Jeffrey Whitaker signed scholarship papers on Wednesday to play for Coach Gene Chizik's Tigers.

A 6-3, 295-pound defensive tackle, he announced at Warner Robins High School on Monday that he had chosen the Tigers over Georgia, Miami and North Carolina. He took official visits to each of those universities.

"When I called Coach Rock (defensive line coach Tracy Rocker) and Coach Chiz (Chizik) to tell them, they were really excited," Whitaker says. "I am excited about the Auburn program. I think we are really good to be good."

Rated a four-star prospect by and the number 11 defensive tackle prospect in America, the U.S. Army All-American says the coaching staff, other Auburn commitments, the fans and the university itself influenced his decision.

Whitaker also played in the Georgia North-South All-Star Game.
