ITAT Signing Day Blog

Keep up to date throughout the day with updates on Auburn's signees.

1:45 p.m.
Assuming the Tigers are done signing for this year's class, they're at 90 total scholarship players for the 2010 season. They must get down to 85 by the start of fall classes. The list includes 21 seniors, 19 juniors, 16 sophomores and 34 freshmen.

Some players are hard to classify by position. For instance, is Kodi Burns a quarterback or receiver? Is Mario Fannin a running back or receiver? Is Anthony Gulley a receiver or cornerback? 1:15 p.m.
Lemonier and Bonomolo's faxes have arrived. All of the commitments have signed. Auburn didn't lose anybody on signing day and it picked up Lemonier, Tunde Fariyike, Ryan Smith and Ladarious Phillips. Signing day 2010 was an outstanding day for the Auburn Tigers.

12:53 p.m.
Auburn just received the much-awaited fax from five-star receiver Trovon Reed.

12:30 p.m.
Auburn just got a fax from surprise signee Tunde Fariyike. He will most likely be a center for the Tigers.

11:52 a.m.
Corey Lemonier just announced his decision to attend Auburn. That's a huge pick up for an already stellar recruiting class.

11:30 a.m.
Five-star defensive end Corey Lemonier from Hialeah, Fla., is announcing between Florida State and Auburn at 11:50 a.m. Central on ESPNU.

11:20 a.m.
Trovon Reed is expected to sign scholarship papers to Auburn shortly after noon central time.

11:10 a.m.
Ryan White and Chad Slade sent their faxes to Auburn. Trovon Reed and Joel Bonomolo are the only commitments yet to have sent their faxes to the Auburn athletics department.

11:00 a.m.
Linebacker Jake Holland signed with Auburn.

Defensive end Justin Delaine sent his fax to Auburn.

9:30 a.m.
Athlete Chris Davis of Woodlawn High School, who will play cornerback at Auburn, has signed.

9:16 a.m.
Michael Dyer, the top running back in the country, has signed with Auburn. So has Dakota Mosley.

Tidbit #10

9:05 a.m.
Completely unrelated to Auburn, but Da'Rick Rogers just signed with Tennessee instead of Georgia. Ouch!

9:00 a.m.
Jawara White and Jeffrey Whitaker have signed. Whitaker, a four-star defensive tackle and one of the top needs for the Tigers in the class, committed on Monday.

8:50 a.m.
Defensive tackle Michael Thornton of Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Ga., has signed with Georgia.

8:44 a.m.
A wave of faxes just came into the football complex, included four-star offensive tackle Shon Coleman from Olive Branch High School. Coleman looked around and strongly considered Alabama and Miami, but stuck with his original commitment to Auburn.

Ryan Smith of Cordova was a long-time commitment to the University of Kentucky. He played safety, quarterback, running back, kick returner, punt returner, you name it in high school, leading his team to three straight state championship games. He took an official visit to Auburn last weekend.

8:11 a.m.
Tidbit #9

There had been some (unsubstantiated) rumors floating around that Opelika High School running back Corey Grant may sign with Auburn, but he has in fact signed with Alabama.

7:58 a.m.
Commitment Ed Christian has signed, as has surprise signee Ladarius Phillips from Handley, Ala., High School. Phillips played running back in high school, but has the size at 6-1, 275 and the athleticism to be a future star.

7:45 a.m.
Eric Mack and Jonathon Mincy have signed with Auburn.

Markeith Ambles, a one-time Tennessee commitment who was in touch with Auburn late in the process, has committed to USC.

Tidbit #8

7:37 a.m.
Jeremy Richardson and Kenneth Carter, two of the top players in-state, just signed with Auburn. That brings the total to five players who have signed with Auburn today.

Remember, there are already five new Tigers on campus. Auburn was playing with such a small roster last year that the goal was to bring in 30 new players for 2010. Junior college transfers Cameron Newton, Brandon Mosely and Roszell Gayden are already on campus and enrolled in spring classes. Craig Sanders and Jessel Curry both graduated high school in December and are also enrolled. Therefore Auburn could sign up to 33 and bring in as many 30 new scholarship players for the 2010 team.

7:26 a.m.
Punter Steven Clark has signed with Auburn, bringing the total to three. The excitement should pick up here in the next hour.

Tidbit #6

6:55 a.m.
Cody Parkey was the first commitment of the class and the first to send his fax in. Receiver Antonio Goodwin was right behind him. A pair of four-star prospects isn't a bad way to start the day.

6:40 a.m.
Gene Chizik and staff's first year with a full year to recruit is soon to be a great success. Coming into National Signing Day, the Tigers are ranked fifth in the country per verbal commitments. Click here to check out the Scout.com team rankings. And this could be one of those years where there is a signing day surprise or two for the Tigers.
