Two Early Offers for In-State Receiver

Junior wide receiver Danny Woodson talks about recruiting with Inside the Auburn Tigers.

Mobile, Ala.--After putting up impressive numbers as a junior receiver, LeFlore High's Danny Woodson has picked up a pair of early football scholarship offers.

One of those offers for the 6-2, 185-pounder is from the Auburn Tigers and the other is from Southern Mississippi.

"‘I am in contact with Southern Miss, Auburn and Alabama," Woodson says. "Coach (Dameyune) Craig at FSU came by the school to get my transcript and I talked to him some then."

Woodson, whose uncle Lamar Woodson played at Auburn and whose father (Danny) played at Alabama, says he has an interest in Coach Gene Chizik's Tigers.

"I like Auburn because they have shown me a lot of interest and they pass the ball a lot," he says. "I first talked with Coach (Curtis) Luper back in October after the Williamson game. We have a good connection now."

Commenting on Alabama, he says, "I like Alabama because they have been in my family."

Asked if he is getting pressure to go to any particular college, he says, "My grandmother likes Alabama and wants me to go there, but I'm just going to wait until my senior year before I decide where to go."

Woodson notes that he caught 57 passes for 1,463 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2009. "I love when I have big plays, especially when they try to have man coverage on me," he says.

The junior says he has a 2.5 grade point average and will take the ACT in March. He is currently competing in basketball. "I play small forward in basketball," he says. "We are doing better because we are starting to play as a team."

Woodson notes that he plans to camp at Auburn and Alabama this summer as well as FSU and possibly Southern Miss.
