Decision by Region Gets Dismukes' Attention

Spanish Fort High standout Reese Dismukes discusses recruiting and the Auburn Tigers.

Spanish Fort, Ala.--Reese Dismukes, who is expected to be one of the top offensive line prospects in the state for the Class of 2011, says the decision by his friend Spencer Region to commit to Auburn is an interesting one.

Region, a big offensive guard from Cullman High School, was expected to commit to Alabama on Saturday. However, he surprised virtually everybody by announcing at his press conference that he will play for Coach Gene Chizik's Auburn Tigers.

"That was something else, wasn't it," says Dismukes, who was planning to announce his college choice this week, but has cancelled those plans.

Asked if Region's pledge to Auburn makes it more likely he will do the same thing, Dismukes says, "I guess it kind of does, but not really," the Spanish Fort High center says. "I am going to make a decision on what is the best place for me, but we have definitely talked about playing together.

"I called off the commitment," Dismukes notes. "I am not going to do that now. I want to take some more time, take some more visits and make sure where I want to go."

Dismukes, who notes that he is up to five scholarship offers with Auburn being joined by Alabama, FSU, Ole Miss and Stanford, is planning to check out Florida State's junior day later this month.

"I have been to Auburn's junior day and Alabama's junior day," he says. "Auburn's was great. I liked the family atmosphere. Everybody is family up there. They accept everybody."

He adds that he also enjoyed the junior day in Tuscaloosa. "At Alabama they have got nice facilities and good coaches over there and stuff like that," he says.

Dismukes, who notes that he currently is somewhere between 6-3 and 6-4, says he weighs 283 pounds and is still growing. His current focus athletically is on another sport as a member of the Spanish Fort High golf team. He notes that he really enjoys golf. "I have been going to the Masters my whole life," he says.

A student with good grades, Dismukes points out that he is interested in studying business/finance in college.

Commenting on what he is looking for in a college, he says, "I want to find the place where I?fit in the most and where I?feel most comfortable. I want to find a place where I?am going to enjoy myself for four years."
