Athletic Safety Prospect Visits Tigers

Safety prospect Kadetrix Marcus talks about taking an unofficial visit to Auburn on Saturday.

Stone Mountain, Ga.--Over a dozen members of the Stephenson High football team made a unofficial trip to Auburn on Saturday and included with them was a player that could be a member of the program in 2010. Safety prospect Kadetrix Marcus is currently at Hillgrove High in Powder Springs, but on Saturday he came over with Stephenson and said he enjoyed his trip to check out the Tigers.

"It went real well," Marcus tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I like the campus and the coaches. I really like the facilities. They are real good.

"The weight room was great," he adds. "How they talked about the academic help was nice. The practice facilities, I liked them a lot. I also liked the coaches. They are down to earth people. I also liked talking to the equipment people and how they help the players. I liked that a lot."

A 6-1, 190-pounder with 4.5 speed in the 40-yard dash, Marcus says that he's being recruited to Auburn by safety coach Tommy Thigpen and he likes what the first-year coach has to say and how he treats his players.

"He's a down to earth person," Marcus says. "He's straightforward in his approach. I like his mentality."

Currently getting interest from South Carolina, UCF, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Michigan State and several others in addition to Auburn, Marcus says at the moment South Carolina is his only offer. He notes Auburn talked to him about a possible offer down the road, but nothing has happened yet.

"They said as we go along with the process we would see what happens," Marcus says.

A standout in track in addition to football, Marcus has been a three-year starter at Hillgrove at the safety position in addition to playing some spot duty on offense.
