Tigers Playing Two More Before SEC Starts

Auburn, Ala.--In their final tune-ups before the start of Southeastern Conference play, Coach John Pawlowski's Auburn baseball team will take on Alabama A&M in a pair of games on Tuesday and Wednesday at Plainsman Park.

The start time is 6:30 p.m. for each contest. Auburn, which is trying to bounce back from a three-game sweep at Arizona State over the weekend, brings a 9-5 record into Tuesday's contest. Alabama A&M is 10-4 after dropping a pair of games to Mississippi Valley State on Sunday.

The Tigers have a six-game home winning streak at Plainsman Park and are hitting .352 as a team, which is second among SEC teams behind Vandy's .352 mark.

However, pitching, a question for the Tigers going into the season, is still a concern 14 games into the season. The Tigers have a team earned run average of 6.12 and have allowed 158 hits in 125 innings. The Tigers are ranked 11th among the 12 SEC teams in earned run average.

Juniors Brian Fletcher and Hunter Morris are leading the Tigers at the plate. Fletcher is hitting .421 and Morris has bounced back after a slow start and is hitting .415 with a six-game hitting streak. Fletcher is fourth among SEC hitters and Morris is fifth.

The Tigers will open conference play on Friday at Georgia and will play the Bulldogs on Saturday and Sunday. Georgia is 8-8 going into a Tuesday night contest vs. Georgia Tech. Georgia has had pitching issues, too. The Bulldogs are last among SEC teams in earned average at 7.25.
