Tigers Open Busy Week At Plainsman Park

Auburn begins a six-game home stand this week with games against Georgia State and South Alabama on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Auburn, Ala.--With an 18-10 record overall and 5-4 in SEC play after dropping two of three at Alabama over the weekend, the Auburn Tigers begin a six-game home stand with games on Tuesday and Wednesday against Georgia State and South Alabama at Plainsman Park.

Sophomore right-hander Dexter Price (3-0, 3.00) gets the starting nod on the mound for Auburn on Tuesday night at 6:30 while Georgia State will send freshman lefty Michael Moch (1-1, 10.61) to the hill.

Both pitchers will be facing some of the best offenses in the nation as Auburn leads the SEC with a .339 team batting average while Georgia State brings a .376 team average into the game, which last week was the best average in the nation.

Opening the season with three losses at Florida State, the Panthers have rebounded well and enter the game with one of the top offensive teams in the country. This season they have games of 33, 32, 30, 27, 19 and 18 runs scored. With an incredible 54 home runs and 86 doubles, Georgia State should present a major challenge for Price and the Auburn pitching staff.

Following the game against Georgia State, Auburn will play host to South Alabama (21-10) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Neither team has announced its starting pitcher for the contest, but the Tigers could throw freshman Slade Smith (1-0, 3.60).

The Jaguars have won six out of seven entering the week, including a sweep over New Orleans over the weekend. South Alabama faces No. 22 Southeastern Louisiana Tuesday night before traveling to Auburn on Wednesday.

Auburn will face #5 LSU in a three-game series at Plainsman Park this weekend.
