Region Upbeat About Recruiting

Under Armour All-American offensive guard, Spencer Region, talks about Auburn and recruiting.

Cullman, Ala.--Auburn offensive line commitment Spencer Region was hoping that his buddy Thomas O'Reilly would make a decision to play his college football at Auburn, something the offensive lineman from Pope High in Marietta, Ga., announced this week he would be doing.

"I am really happy about Thomas committing," Region says. "I think it is going to be a good thing. He is a heck of an athlete, a heck of guy. He is an Auburn man and I just can't wait to play with him. Of course, I welcome him to the Auburn Family, just like I was. It is going to be a neat thing for us.

"I think it is going to help us recruiting," adds Region, who plans to be in Auburn this weekend for the Tigers' annual spring football game. "If I am a running back and I don't know where I am going, if I have an offer from Auburn I would be considering Auburn now. I believe me and Thomas are the two best guards in the country and we will move anybody out."

Another offensive line prospect who Region knows, center Reese Dismukes from Spanish Fort High in Daphne, is expected to announce his college choice on April 21st.

"I can't speak for Reese, but I hope he comes with us," Region says. "He is still undecided in his recruiting. I definitely wouldn't mind playing with him."

Region, who is on spring break, visited Tuscaloosa on Thursday. Alabama was his leader when he changed his mind and decided he wanted to play for Coach Gene Chizik's Tigers.

Region says nothing has changed on his commitment status. "A big thing about my recruiting is that I wanted to take my visits and that is what I am doing now," he says. "I am still 110 percent sold on Auburn. That is where I want to be. That is where I am going to play. It is really nothing. I am just taking my visits and enjoying football."
