Harris Maintaining Interest in Auburn

Running back prospect Alonzo Harris talks about his most recent visit to Auburn.

Gadsden, Ala.--Alonzo Harris doesn't have a scholarship offer from the Tigers, but notes he is still getting plenty of interest from the Auburn coaching staff.

The 6-1, 203-pound junior at Gadsden City High School visited Auburn to check out the Tigers' annual A-Day spring football game. "I saw the facilities and I?had a pretty good time at the game with my parents," he says.

"I watched the running backs and saw (Mario) Fannin and a couple of other running backs,"?he notes. "I am not sure who they are, they are pretty new to me. I watched (Onterio) McCalebb and about him. He is a pretty good running back."

Harris says he believes the trip to the Auburn campus for the spring game is about the 10th visit he has made to the campus. "Auburn is still recruiting me and I am definitely looking at Auburn," he says. "They are about at the top of my list."

"On my visit I talked to Coach Trooper (Taylor), Coach (Tommy) Thigpen and a couple of other coaches,"?he adds. "They always talk about Gadsden City and they showed me a lot of love."

As a junior Harris rushed for 1,040 yards and 23 touchdowns. A prospect with offers from SEC programs Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky as well as Florida State out of the SEC, he says that his goal this year is to become a better player. "I am working on my speed this spring," he says. "I want to get bigger, stronger and faster. I can improve in all areas."
