4-Star Recruit Expected to Sign With Tigers

One of the nation's top unsigned basketball prospects could be Tony Barbee's second Auburn signee.

Red Hill, N.C.--Auburn is expected to get its second men's basketball signee of the spring period from a highly-regarded power forward who is originally from Huntsville, Ala.

Luke Cothron said after visiting Auburn this past weekend that Auburn moved to the top of his list and he expects to sign in "a week or so." Asked if he was going to consider taking any more visits, he said, "No, Auburn was my last one."

If he signs with Auburn as expected, Cothron will be Tony Barbee's second signed recruit since taking the job earlier this spring. Cothron would also be Barbee's second signee from the Huntsville area joining small forward Josh Langford.

Cothron, who is 6-9, 218 pounds, said he averaged 31 points and 13 rebounds per game this season at Flora MacDonald Academy in North Carolina.

"I feel like I had a real good season and it was a good place for me to play basketball," he said, noting he got an opportunity to face some strong competition.

Cothron is ranked as the No. 13 power forward prospect in the country by Scout.com and has been recruited by numerous colleges. He said his other finalists behind Auburn were UConn and Tennessee.

"I really like everything about Auburn," he said. "I like all of the coaches a lot."
