Dixon Enjoys Auburn Visit, High On Tigers

Defensive back Alex Dixon talks about his visit to Auburn on Saturday and gives his thoughts on the Tigers.

Clearwater, Fla.--One of the top defensive back prospects in Florida, Countryside standout Alex Dixon made his first visit to Auburn on Saturday to check out the campus and talk to Gene Chizik and the Tigers' coaching staff. Getting to see the Plains for the first time proved to be an eye-opening experience for the 6-1, 185 cornerback.

"It was fantastic," Dixon tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I went up with my mom and my brother. We just got a good feel for everything. I met all the coaches and coach Chizik. We got a real good feel for things. I love it. When I come back with my uncle it's all up to that right there."

With over a dozen offers to choose from including Florida, Clemson and several others, Dixon said it was important for him to see Auburn along with his mother, who took the visit along with him and his younger brother.

"I wanted my mom's opinion about it because whatever she says I always listen," Dixon said. "She said she loved it and she liked the school more than any of the other places we've been. She had a real good conversation with coach Chizik, coach (Jay) Boulware and the rest of the coaching staff. We love it.

"It's very important," he added on having his mother‘s blessing on a school. "She wants me to be safe where I'm at and wants to know that all of the coaches have our back. That's a real big thing."

Able to choose from a solid list of football programs and still several months away from signing day in February, Dixon isn't an any rush to make his decision. With that said however he noted that after his trip to Auburn he's pretty certain the Tigers will have a place at the final table for him when he makes his final decision.

"I don't really have a group right now but they've got a real good chance," Dixon said. "With coach Chizik being from my area it only helps things. That's a big thing. He knows most of my family so that's an A plus right there. It's just a blessing to know him and that he knows most of my family.

"Auburn is definitely a place I'll visit again," Dixon added. "In fact they'll probably be my first official visit."
