Bluechip Prospects to Check Out Auburn

An Auburn football recruiting report is featured with news on prospects planning to visit the Tigers for their season opener.

Auburn, Ala.--At least 100 high school football prospects are expected to be in Auburn on Saturday for the season opener for the Tigers who will take on Arkansas State at 6 p.m.

No official visitors are expected in, but a variety of seniors, juniors and even sophomores from across the southeast are likely to attend the game.

Among those expected in are Auburn commitments wide receiver Sammie Coates from Leroy High, center Reese Dismukes from Spanish Fort High, linebacker Chris Landrum from Sweet Water High, defensive lineman Jabrian Niles from Davidson High in Mobile, offensive lineman Thomas O'Reilly from Pope High in Marietta, Ga., cornerback Jonathan Rose from Leeds High and safety Anthony Swain from Gadsden City High.

One of Auburn's top in-state targets, safety Erique Florence from Valley High, is expected to check out the Tigers. Florence was a standout in an Auburn summer camp and rated as the top prospect in the state for 2011 by the Birmingham News. Because he is needed on offense this season, Florence is playing quarterback for the Valley Rams.

One of Auburn's top out-of-state targets for the 2011 signee class, big offensive lineman Greg Robinson from Thibodaux, La., is expected to make a return trip to campus after visiting in the spring and again earlier this summer.

Included among the visitors is junior linebacker Tre Banks from Williamson High in Mobile, junior safety Travis Blanks from North Florida Christian in Tallahassee and junior quarterback/athlete Justin Thomas from Prattville.

Senior prospects include athlete Jamal Golden from Wetumpka High, wide receiver Cooper Harrington from Briarwood Christian, defensive tackle Mickey Johnson from St. Paul's High in Covington, La., running back Dwayne McCalebb from Fort Meade, Fla., High and offensive lineman Spencer Whitehead from Newnan, Ga., High.

A member of the class of 2013, defensive end Brian Whitaker, is expected to visit. His brother Jeffrey Whitaker is expected to play at defensive tackle for the Tigers in his college debut.
