Cardinals Host Big Recruiting Weekend

Even though Ball State dropped a 27-23 decision to Liberty on Saturday night, the Cardinals still hosted a very successful weekend of recruiting that included 40 kids.

Ball State welcomed the largest recruiting weekend in the football team's history this past weekend as they hosted over 40 kids.

On Saturday, 7 of the 12 verbal commits and a handful of other senior targets as well as a bevy of junior prospects were in attendance for the Cardinals tough 27-23 loss to a quality Liberty team.

In attendance were confirmed verbal commitments Hunter Maynard, 6-2 285, DT from Columbus, OH (Watterson); Tyler Rayburn, 6-4 270 OG from Columbus, IN (East); Ben Ingle, 6-1 205 OLB from Cincinnati (LaSalle); Chris Shillings, 6-1 200 WR from Columbus, IN (North); Quyuan Mattox, 5-11 180 S from Fort Wayne, IN (Luers); Bryan Baird, 6-4 220 DE from Bellbrook, OH; Keenan Noel, 6-1 240 FB/H-Back from Columbus, IN (North).

Headlining the group of junior were two of the best the state of Indiana has to offer for 2012 in Jonathan Burt, a 6-2 235 DE from Indianapolis Warren Central and Hayden Northern, 6-4 180 QB from Martinsville, IN.

On Sunday, the Cardinals welcomed another verbal commit for 2011 in 6-4 WR Jacolby Owens. Owens came to visit Muncie with his teammate Dmitri Johnson, a 6-3 215 OLB/DE, both play for Thornridge in Dolton, IL. Johnson also boasts offers from Akron, Illinois State, Ohio, Toledo and Western Kentucky.
