Wiggins Continues Ball State Pipeline

Ball State picked up its 4th commit from the Tar Heel State and its second commitment from Matthews Butler on Monday.

Ball State and Head Football Coach Pete Lembo have built quite the pipeline to the talent rich and largely untapped state of North Carolina, especially with one of the state's and nation's top programs in Matthews Butler.

The Cardinals landed their second verbal commitment in the Class of 2013 from Butler when LB Sean Wiggins made his pledge Monday night.

"They have been recruiting me from the get-go", Wiggins said. "They already have (fellow 2013 commit from Butler) David Moore going there and I was able to get up there and (Ball State RB and also former Butler player) Jahwan Edwards is there. I really liked it up there."

Wiggins is a 6-2 225 tackle machine, as a junior last season, he posted over 170 tackles and this year is leading the Nation's #18 team into the North Carolina Class 4-AA State Championship versus Jack Britt this weekend.

"This is a big game for sure," Wiggins said. "We have been dominating all year this year. We have the attitude that we have to win this. We lost in the playoffs last year and it was a big surprise. So we picked it up this year and we want to win this for all of the hard work we have put in the past 4 years."

Wiggins, who picked Ball State over offers from Navy, Air Force, Charlotte, Georgia State, Richmond and The Citadel, has the ability to play both inside or outside for Ball State in the future.

"Right now, I am an inside linebacker in a 3-4 defense," Wiggins said. "But I can play outside too. I feel like my strengths are my ability to read plays and take the right angles. I just like to get after it out there."
