Ball State Recruiting Notebook

With the deadline looming for 2013's class, Ball State focuses on two goals – ending 2013 in a big way and starting fresh with 2014..

Here are some random news and notes about what is going on:

In House Visit

Ball State target Aaron Clay, a WR from Eastern Alamance High School in Mebane, NC, had an in home visit from the Ball State coaching staff this past week. Clay, who as of yet, does not hold an offer from the Cardinals is expected to make the trip to Muncie in the last week before signing day.

Possible New Target

Elkart Central (IN) Slot WR Spencer Schnell was also visited by Ball State coaches this past week. Schnell is a quick 5-9 165 WR that projects well as a future slot WR.

2014 Starting Off Strong

The Cardinals offered two new players in the Class of 2014 in LB Gary Hosey & WR Tommy Mister.

Hosey, a 6-0 230 MIKE from Detroit powerhouse Cass, holds offers from the Cardinals along with Toledo & Eastern Michigan.

Mister, a dynamic athlete from Chicago's St. Rita High School, picked up his Ball State offer to go along with offers from Illinois, Indiana and Notre Dame.

Making The Rounds for 2014

Along with the new offers, Ball State has reportedly dropped in on a handful of 2014 recruits in the past week. They include:.

Detroit Country Day QB Tyler Wiegers and RB/ATH Richard Wilson. Wiegers is a 6-4 200 gunslinger that already owns offers from Central Michigan, Western Michigan & Toledo. Wilson, a dynamic 5-11 200 RB, doesn't have any offers but will surely attract several.

Cardinal coaches spotted at Detroit Cass Tech where they were seeing several players including Hosey and Brian Sanders.

Schaumburg (IL) ATHs Stacey Smith & Rahsaan Green. Smith, the teams QB, projects as a WR or DB, while Green could play RB or slot.

Fort Wayne (IN) Concordia to check in on QB David Morrison.

Minster (OH) High School checking in on 6-6 TE Ethan Wolf, who holds offers from several schools already.
