Barron Talks First Offer

Mishawaka Marian (Ind.) junior offensive lineman Kirk Barron talks about the joy of offer number one.

Kirk Barron put on a couple of great offseason performances at the Core 6 Showcase in Chicago and then the Best of the Midwest in Indianapolis, and along with the strength of his junior year, earned his first scholarship offer from Ball State this week.

"With the first offer, it's almost a great relief because it has taken awhile," he said. "And it's also a blessing obviously."

A blessing for, not just him, but his entire family.

"I have never seen my mom so happy as when she saw she didn't have to pay for school."

The 6'3, 292-lb Barron has interest from other schools, but the fact that the Cardinals were his first offer makes them a tough team to beat.

"Obviously Ball State is my number one because those coaches were the first to believe in me as a player and young man"

Coming up, Barron has visits planned and others he has been invited to.

"I'm visiting Illinois on Tuesday. Western Michigan wants me up the 23rd and Northern Illinois wants me up for a visit and Oregon wants me out too."
