Checking in on Darian Green

Ball State's first verbal commitment for the class of 2014 talks about his commitment and his teammate who just picked up a Cardinal offer.

The Ball State coaching staff has been busy this off season. The coaches have been recruiting North Carolina, Florida, Georgia and have even spent some time in Washington DC.

Despite all of that, they have not forgotten the State of Indiana. The Cardinals already have three verbal commitments from the Hoosier State. The first was from Lafayette Jefferson standout RB Darian Green.

As a junior the 5-10 178 pound back rushed for 1300 yards and 14 touchdowns. This year Green wants to better those numbers, and his sights set on being an all-state selection.

I recently had a chance to talk with Green about BSU his commitment and his future as a Cardinal.

"I reason picked BSU is because the coaching staff loves football as well as academics," Green said. "they want to see you succeed on and off of the field. I have a great bond with them. On my visit I talked with strength and conditioning coach (Dave) Feely and he told me if I want to work hard and reach my full potential, BSU is the place for me so that reeled me in."

Ball State recently offered Green's teammate and friend Matt Johnson who plays QB for the Bronchos, but was offered as a WR/DB by the Cardinals. When asked about Johnson, Green said "Yeah I kinda see myself as a recruiter because I'm cool with a lot of great talent in Indiana so I might shoot them a text or tweet them and tell them to jump on board. Matt is a competitor with blazing speed. We've been playing together since 4th grade so it would be great if he jumped on board."
