Ingle begins his first season as the starter at what is one of the most important positions on any defense – the MIKE LB. Not only that, he is going to be a key focal point for a defense looking to improve even more than they did a season ago and take a step closer to being one of the better units in the Mid-American Conference.
The MIKE, or middle linebacker, is basically the quarterback of the defense, add to that his responsibilities to help stop the ground game and also drop back into coverage and Ingle will have his plate full.
A season ago, Ingle was able to get snaps in certain situations and basically serve as a 3rd down coverage MIKE in the nickel package. These situations fit well within Ingle's skill set given his prep career as a Safety at Cincinnati's LaSalle High School. Now, after bulking up over 10 pounds, Ingle looks to become a cog in the Cardinals Run defense.
Ingle was able to take the starting spot during spring practice and has had a solid summer camp.
