Ball State Recruits on Collision Course

The Indiana Class 5A State Football Championship Game could pit two Ball State 2014 recruits against one another.

At this time next year Zach Saum and Devin Reece will be playing with each other as members of the Ball State Football team. But in two weeks the pair could meet on the field as foes in the Indiana Class 5A State Championship Game.

Reece, a 6-3 WR, leads his Class 5A #1 Westfield Shamrocks into battle next week in the state's semifinal against Elkhart (Concord). Reece caught 5 passes for 57 yards and 3 touchdowns on Friday in the Shamrocks 36-7 victory over Fort Wayne Snider in the regional.

For the season, Reece has compiled 64 receptions for 919 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Saum, a 6-4 215 TE, has helped state powerhouse Indianapolis Cathedral to the same point in the tournament by topping Whiteland 56-28. The Irish will play Terre Haute North Vigo for the state semifinal next week.

Saum has posted 36 receptions for 560 yards and 5 touchdowns.
