Higgins, a 6-0 175 Slot WR and DB, picked up the offer from Ball State, his first, on Saturday while visiting the Cardinals spring practice.
"I was talking to Coach (Pete) Lembo in his office after their spring practice," Higgins said. "And he told me they would like to offer."Higgins said he came away very impressed from his trip to Muncie and his time with the Ball State staff.
"The coaching staff stood out," he said. "They were extremely welcoming to me and my family. They also told us straight up how it would be if I came to Ball State. The coaches seemed really into the academics and a player's progression with life as well as football. It seemed like they really cared about the individual player."
This past season for Reitz, Higgins played the role of "Do-it-All" guy as he carried the ball for 1,076 yards as well as gathering in 25 receptions for 380 yards and a total of 19 touchdowns.
One of the main reasons that Higgins offer was such a surprise was because of the light interest he had been getting up until this point in the process from other schools.
"I visited Western Kentucky for one of their games last year," he said. "Other than that, just getting letters from other schools, nothing too big."
Expect that to change for sure.
